Product Description
Keep the aluminum hull on your pontoon or fishing boat looking great! A couple of quick-drying coats of Sharkhide can protect your boat from streaks, stains, water lines, and oxidation for years. Protects in fresh, brackish, and saltwater. Sharkhide is easily applied and requires no special maintenance. Works on new, polished, or acid-washed aluminum surfaces, as well as copper, brass, steel, and stainless. Sharkhide will not chip, peel, flake, or yellow - ever! One quart provides two coats on most fishing boats; two quarts provide two coats on pontoon boats with enough left over for touch ups. Note that Sharkhide is not an anti-fouling bottom paint. Shipped ground only.

Comments about Sharkhide Aluminum Hull Protectant, quart:

This product must be used after polishing of pontoons or rapid oxidation will take place. This product is the last part of pontoon cleaning. Begin with the acid wash, then sanding, then buffing/polishing and cleaning with laquer thinner, then this product to protect the finish. Once polished and this product applied the pontoons do look new with almost a mirror like finish.

After cleaning the aluminum this is the best product I have ever seen for protecting against staining, discoloring, tarnishing, and just plain old water lines. I would recommend it to all who have a pontoon boat, and wish I had found it sooner.

This is for outter use, so you can not paint over this, but you can use this over paint.

No. I wouldn't advise to paint over Sharkhide or any other material for that matter. No paint type material should be applied over anything other than the primer that the paint company recomends.

I'd recommend a soft, smooth cloth (like a t-shirt) to avoid leaving lines or drag marks in the finish. Also, try to apply in cooler temperatures for better results.

The ONLY cloth the manufacturer recomends is a "WHITE COTTON BABY DIAPER". These can be found at any Wal-Mart in the Gerber Infant display. Look for a clear plastic bundle of 10 diapers made by Gerber, and on the front label, look for the words "Flatfold, BIRDSEYE, Cloth Diaper". This is the one to use!

We would suggest you use a cleaner if the boat is used prior to putting a coat of Sharkhide on. A good suggestion is our item # 22264 which the Toon-brite Pontoon and Aluminum cleaner for $21.99.

                      • A:

On a "New Boat", just hot soapy water, scrub, rinse, dry then apply Sharkhide. If the boat is old and dirty, you can use Sharkhide Aluminum Cleaner or a cheaper brand aluminum cleaner to clean and remove the oxidized surface layer, then apply Sharkhide. If you do choose to polish, you'll need to thoroughly scrub the boat with Lacquer Thinner before applying Sharkhide. But when in doubt, call the folks at Sharkhide.
