I bought one of these to keep my boat looking mint.
I had a bit of a fitting quandary … as there was a strake line than faded into the position that the Scuff. buster needed to go.
In effect I need to put a dog leg step in this (on both sides.
After a few minutes thought I temp held in place, marked with a felt pen where the strake line was.
Then fitted the scuff buster in a vice, between two pieces of plywood … lined up with mark … the steel was surprisingly malleable, first an almost 90 degree bend, then a revers bend to form the step, minor adjustment by holding in in place on hull and thumping with rubber mallet.
Then cleaned hull with alcohol, squeezed in the sides slightly (to make it a tight fit …. Put in in place and give it a good number of taps with rubber mallet to make sure adhesive pad settled into strake.
Pulled it up tight onto trailer roller … to make sure it had pressure for a couple of days.
Good piece of kit ….. just sold boat after 4 yearsa … no a scuff on it, and Scuff Buster still stuck firm.

A:
You will need to measure the area you are trying to cover around your bow stop. The smaller scuff buster is notched and the XL comes in 2 pcs. For installation and additional info, you can also visit the manufacturers website at www.keelguard.comAnswered on 6/4/2009 by Ryan from Overtons
