Swiss-made Schmidt-Rubin rifles are are easily recognized thanks to their innovative straight-pull bolt-action design. The Schmidt-Rubin Model 96/11 was Switzerland's effort to upgrade the 1896 rifles it issued at the time to use the more powerful cartridges of the Model 1911. In addition to converting this lightweight rifle to handle more powerful cartridges, the 96/11 was also given improved sights and the magazine cut-off was removed. This rifle features a post front sight with an adjustable rear sight. Its wood and metal are in fair condition and its bore is in good condition.
