Comments about Savage Arms Savage® Model 93 FXP Rimfire Rifle:
I recently bought my Savage and installed a Bushnell "sharpshooter" scope. I have the base model (basic blued barrel and black synthetic stock). Lets start with the good. this gun is very accurate and easy to take down. I shot a 3/4" group at 50 yards. Take down is lifting the bolt handle, pulling the trigger and pulling the bolt out. That easy.
Now the bad. "Fit and Finish" are poor. The stock is snug on the barrel on the right and a penny wide gap on the left. Also a seam line down the middle of the stock is not very appealing to the eye. Some small filing and machine marks are also visible. I am not concerned about any of these factors though due to the price and use of the gun. this was the least expensive model. However I did have to buy a 17 cal cleaning kit because my cleaning rod was for 22 cal+. It also gets a very dirty barrel after shooting and you need to remove the bolt and push the cleaning rod through the back and out the front and use tiny patches.
Over all i am satisfied with my Savage 93r17 .17HMR It is accurate, fun, simple and best of all cheap to shoot and own!
