First released in the 1980s, the Model 840 produced by Savage and marketed as a Springfield was based on the earlier Model 330 bolt design and the concept of an affordable bolt-action rifle for the common man. The Model 840 featured a plain, uncheckered, beech stock and a simple, stamped-steel rear sight. It's a lightweight, well-balanced rifle with a firm trigger pull and a crisp letoff. This rifle features a Weaver side-mount scope base and rings. The gun's stock has been refinished. Its wood, metal, and bore are all in good condition.
