Comments about Savage Arms Savage Model 64 F Rimfire Rifle:

This rifle was a small present to myself one day when I had little to do.The reason I picked it over several other brands was the feel of the rifle.Several .22 rifles I picked up were so light I thought they were toys. I immediately called the factory and bought four extra magazines. The open iron sights are not that accurate so I bought a CENTERPOINT 4x16x40mm. scope and mounted it. It is a little top heavy now,but it is a solid tack driver at 50-100 yds..
The biggest con I have with it other than the cheap sights is it is a bear to clean. I like to clean all my firearms each time I fire them. I know some say clean the rimfires once every February 29th.,but I have to know my weapons are clean and functional. I run a little powder buster spray and a few patches through the barrel and just break it down about once per year. I have had it for about 3 yrs. now with no problems at all. I have sort of slowed down on .22s since I have bought a .17 HMR. I still go after tin cans with the .22 every once in a while.
