Comments about Savage Arms Savage 4 + 1 Thumbhole Laminate 223 Rem. Lightweight Varmint/Detachable Box Mag:

This rifle is outstanding. A very good value for the price. Accuracy is typical Savage. Shoots 3 shot groups I can cover with a nickel and sometimes a dime. They call it light but actually it is pretty heavy which reduces felt recoil to about zero. It is a great bench or bipod rifle. The thumbhole stock fits me perfectly. Rifle feeds and ejects reliably. Would prefer a metal magazine but the plastic one works fine so I guess I am just old fashioned. I used Leupold rings and Redfield 3x7x42 scope and it works out nice. Bolt throw is short so a larger scope could be used.
