Comments about Savage Arms Savage® Model 212 Shotgun:
I have struggled to find a slug gun that is accurate at 100 yards with the potency of a 12 guage. This gun takes all the guess work out. They even tell you in the owners manual what sabots to use. I opted for the remington accutip 3 inch and they will not dissapoint at a hundred yards. I shot a little over an inch group and I have only been hunting/shooting for about four years. Make a deliberate bolt throw with three inch shells and there will be no problem cycling shells. If you live in a sulg gun zone and dont want to use a muzzleloader this is the gun. I used a weaver one piece piccatany mount to allow a little adjustment to move the scope forward or back. I hear the 220 is just as good with less recoil, but when the whitetail steps in front of you, your shoulder wont feel a thing. Also with accuracy like this, you will spend less time at the range beating up your shoulder trying to find the right sabot that likes your barrel.

Comments about Savage Arms Savage® Model 212 Shotgun:
Awesome shotgun! Like the other reviewer said, the 2 scope mounts that come with the gun are JUNK and should be replaced with the EGW picatinny rail. Then mounting a scope wont be a problem. Using Barnes federal expander slugs i was shooting 1"1/2 groups at 100 yards bag rested.

Comments about Savage Arms Savage® Model 212 Shotgun:
Great gun just not perfect. I used one of the many recommend rounds for the gun (Hornady 2 3/4 SST slugs). The gun would load and eject the round correctly about 80% of time. I would blame the loading problem on the poor design of the magizine. I have yet to understand why the gun will not eject the round correctly each time.
The gun comes with the regular 2 independent scope mounts. I would recommend you replace these with a scope rail. (EGW makes a rail specifically for the 212 model). The rail makes the connection between the gun and the scope solid.
I bought this gun because I wanted long range accuracy with a slug gun, and the 212 gave me that accuracy. Overall the gun is very solid and the bolt action design makes the gun easy to clean. I love the gun and I will use it for many years to come.
