Would you Recomend this Rifle For A 14 Year Old Starting To Shoot In Competition

      • A:

Several of the members of my gun club shoot this rifle in rimfire benchrest competition with excellent results. I have the same rifle chambered in .17 HMR with outstanding accuracy. I like the .17 for a varmint rifle where a centerfire is too loud and danger from ricochet is high. The .17 HMR round disintegrates much more readily than .223 Remington. Can he also use .17 HMR or do the rules specify .22 LR only? Either way the Savage will be outstanding for accuracy for the money invested. I have seen it best much pricier rifles.

        Absolutely,

Very accurate and you can't beat the trigger. It is heavy so not great if shooting standing, but excellent off bench.
