I've read reviews saying that this device doesn't work. You are doing it wrong. There weren't any instuctions with mine and I thought the same thing. I was playing with it trying to figure it out and I saw a small hole in the side. I blew gently into it and it scared me so badly that I dropped it.
It is very very loud once you figure out how to use it. It takes very little breath to produce a huge sound. I wonder who came up with this brilliant little idea...

If you expect to depend on it to alert others at any distance that you've fallen overboard or need assistance you're in big trouble.
A total waste of money.

Comments about Unified Safety Blaster:
I was very disappointed with this product. I thoughtr it would be a good emergency backup, but it proved to be virtually useless. You get wha you pay for, and obviously it is inexpensive for a reason. I would have returned it, but the shipping cost would approximate the pricew of the item. I would suggest yoiu stop advertising this item in your catalog. A totalwaste of money

You usually blow a whistle from the end. This has a blow hole on the side making it difficult to find and blow. Strange design.

Comments about Unified Safety Blaster:
The last time I bought one of these from Overton's it sounded like the Queen Mary was about to run you over, but this one sounds like a mashed cat by comparison.
It is still useful, but a bit disappointing to us showoffs.

Comments about Unified Safety Blaster:
This will replace the whistle. It is much louder than a whistle. This is different as you blow into the side not the end.

It's loud. It kinda sounds like a duck call. I would use it for most dogs are not used to loud noises.Answered on 6/5/2012 by rub a dub dub from Lake Keowee, SC
