Product Description
ruger The SR40c is the compact version of the recoil reducing, striker-fired SR40 pistol, one of the slimmest and most ergonomic full-sized .40 caliber pistols on the market today. The SR40c is based on the same high-performance, glass-filled nylon frame as those used on the popular SR9, SR9c and SR40 pistols, offering the same, great ergonomic features, including a slim frame, short trigger reach, reversible backstrap, and ambidextrous controls. The SR40c features a through-hardened, stainless steel slide or alloy steel slide with Nitridox Pro Black finish. Though remarkably similar in size to the popular SR9c, the SR40c's custom slide design reduces recoil and slide velocity, making it more comfortable to shoot than many of its competitors. Its raked-forward front sight allows for easy removal from the holster and the rear sight is windage and elevation adjustable while the front sight is windage adjustable. Other features include an integral accessory rail, retraction grooves, an ambidextrous thumb safety and d-shaped magazine release, and a reverse backstrap. The SR40c comes standard with finger grip extension floorplates and an additional magazine. A grip extension adapter for a full-sized feel is also included. Brushed stainless steel slide. 15-round magazine.

The gun performed well for about 225 rounds and then the slide locking device slipped the spring and it locked back after every shot. Should have sent it back to Ruger but thought I could fix it. Dumb idea.
The design of the mechanism seems rather weak.
Other than that I like the way it shoots and the size. It is accurate at 25 yrds and takes several different kinds of ammo.

It spits out whatever ammo I put through it. I upgraded the trigger pull and sights, just my preference. Stock pull and sights were fine. I carry it concealed with the short magazine and keep the long stacker for home defense loaded with Gold Dot 155 gr JHP

          Comments about Ruger® SR40c™ Handgun:

I purchased this firearm about a year ago. I've been to the several times with well over 1000 rounds of different ammo. I have never had a problem. I purchased a Mitch Rosen holster on the Ruger website to use for conceal carry and a couple extra 9 rd. magazines. It's just a great package now.

              Comments about Ruger® SR40c™ Handgun:

My wonderful father bought the SR40C for me for my 27th birthday. As a woman with a smaller hand I really had far fewer options for a firearm. I tried out the Glock 23, too large. Then I tried the Glock 27, too small. This Ruger fit just right, as soon as I picked it up I felt comfortable with it.

I've had it out to the range and really like how it shoots. It was sighted in perfectly from the factory so I did not have to change anything. I do prefer the 9 round magazine over the 15, just easier to handle IMO. I did have the last round of one magazine unseat but I don't think that will be an issue after cleaning and lubing. Overall... GREAT GUN!
