Q:what price is the ammo for this rugerAsked on 3/29/2011 by Ken
A:You can buy rounds for about 36 cents each. Bascily a box of 50
for about $18. That's on the .380.Answered on 5/21/2012 by Jim the Prepper from Columbus, Ohio
A:Depends: I use Hornady Critical Defense, which is premium ammo (jacketed hollow-point) at about a buck a round. But I practice with cheap full-metal-jacket ammo running at about fifteen bucks for fifty rounds on average. In winter, I load the gun with FMJs instead of JHPs, for better penetration thru thick coats and such (the .380 round is on the weak side). Some say that certain rounds don't feed well with this gun but thus far, I've not had a problem. For carry, go American, even if the cost is higher...American stuff is more reliable in general. Test your carry ammo well, don't limp-wrist the gun, and keep it cleaned and lubed...as with all semi-autos, to maintain reliability.Answered on 4/14/2011 by Ruger fan from La Crosse, WI
A:got federal ammo today, 50 count box for around $20.Answered on 3/6/2012 by Scooter from East Troy, WI
A:Shop carefully, as the price is all over the place. Generally though, you should be able to shoot at about 22 cents per round for FMJ 95 grain. Your best buy is going to be 1000 rounds at a time.Answered on 3/8/2012 by nevcop from Mesa, AZ

Q:What is the range of this firearm?Asked on 2/10/2011 by Anonymous
A:The sights have been greatly improved in recent months, making it much easier to aim. However, it is intended for very short range personal protection, which would typically be less than 50 feet.Answered on 4/1/2013 by Glocksnob7 from Georgia
A:The useful range is 50 feet. The round will travel farther, but most people cannot hold an aim point accurately at longer range.Answered on 4/8/2011 by Anonymous from None
A:Do you want to know the range, or the effective range? This weapon has very low profile sights that can be challenging re: target acquisition. Target shooting, I would say 50 feet. Defense (man-size target) shooting could possibly be extended to about 30 yards. However, the weapon is made for the classic defense range of 15 - 25 feet. Perfect CCW!! Another consideration when talking range is the foot-pounds of energy available at designated distances. The .380 is notorious for shedding energy beyond 50ft.Answered on 3/8/2012 by nevcop from Mesa, AZ
A:The accurate range of this firearm is about 7 - 10 yards. I definately would not consider anything further.Answered on 4/9/2012 by Jim / NRA/ USCCA from Palm Coast, FL

A:I just went to Gander Mtn and purchased one as my first gun. The box they showed me had one magazine and a lock. Also a vinel type pouch to hold it. It also does not have a safety. The trigger pull is pretty hard so you shouldn't accidently discharge it.Answered on 4/1/2011 by Stan from Brockport, NY
A:"They come with one 6 round magazine (with both flat and finger extension bottoms), manual, gun lock and a zipper pouch.

Q:Does this gun have no safety on it?Asked on 12/3/2010 by Johnny from Pline Bluff, AR
A:NoAnswered on 1/8/2011 by Tommy from NY
A:There is no safety on this weapon. When the chamber is loaded, it is ready to fire.Answered on 1/20/2011 by Robohunter from Scranton, PA
A:No it does not have a safety. Much like a Revolver this gun relays on a long trigger pull for a "safety", but no manual safety. The S&W Bodyguard 380 has a thumb safety. But if you carry this gun as you should in a holster it does not need a safety, just like a revolver dose not need a safety.Answered on 1/22/2011 by MAC from MN

A:No it doesn't have a safety. The trigger force is hard enough you shouldn't accidently discharge it. I just purchased one, but have not picked it up yet.Answered on 4/1/2011 by Stan from Brockport NY
