Simply swing the rope around the tree, run the special Prussic knot and carabiner through the loop end of the rope, cinch the knot snug against the loop, and attach your tether.             I tried the flat strap that comes with the treestand and then tried the rope style strap and there was no slipping on the tree and it stayed right where I had put it.
