Product Description
rome Rome Outdoor Cookware Wilderness Hamburger Griller

The cast iron Wilderness Hamburger Griller is a great way to cook burgers, chops, salmon patties, and chicken over a campfire without the complications and hassles of using large grill grates. Fill the cast iron cooking cavity with meat, close the lid, lock the hinge, and hold over a roaring fire. The slotted casting simulates grill grate cooking and allows for excess fat to drip away from the meat. Cooking head: 4-1/4" diameter. Overall length: 28". Weight: 2.25 lbs.

Comments about Rome Outdoor Cookware Wilderness Hamburger Griller:

I'm a tent with an air mattress kind of guy. No big RV with TVs, DVDs and A/Cs, but I'm not super minimalist backpacker either. I have a small car to go camping with and I can't always take the camp stove, grill, charcoal and/or propane along with all the other gear. But this majestic little beast slips right into any tiny crevice still left in your over-packed hyundai.

When I pull this thing out and set it right in the hottest part of the fire, I get nothing but blank stares and head scratches from everyone sitting around with their burnt hot dogs and sad faces. But the second I pull it out, open it up, hit it with a quick shot of non-stick spray, then slap 2 thick patties of good old american 80/20 right on to it's red hot cast iron... their jaws hit the dirt. "What is that?" "Holy cow that smells good!" "Can I have one?" "Where did you get that tool of the Gods?" Don't even give them the satisfaction of an answer. Eat your burgers and taste their jealousy with each juicy bite.

I really can't say enough about this product. It's so easy to use and saves so much time and effort and space. It makes 2 burgers at a time and takes less than 5 minutes from preheat to done.

    Tips for use:
    1. Make sure you season this well. It does not come preseasoned.
    2. For storage, put a ziptop bag over the head or wrap in foil to keep it from rusting or getting dirty or getting other things dirty from touching it.
    3. Pre-portion your burgers ahead of time. 1/3 pound (that's .3333333 ounces for you scale jockeys) is perfect. This will save you from having hamburger hands when it comes time to cook. A great meal is worth nothing if you have food poisoning later.
    4. When you are ready to use, just lay the head down anywhere in the fire to preheat. Leave it in there, 5 minutes maybe. It will be super hot so be careful.
    5. Carefully remove and find a non-flammable/non-meltable surface to open the device. Hit it with a quick shot of non-stick spray on both sides to be safe and put your meat in and close it up using the little lock hook.
    6. This is where you get a nice cloud of smoke/steam and where your friends will really start to wonder what you are doing. Put the griller right back into the fire where you had it before. Leave it alone for 2 or 3 minutes then flip over for another 2 or 3. Your burgers should be cooked through but just barely pink in the very middle. You can play with the timing and position if the fire to suit your tastes.
    7. I use a fork to remove my burgers then just put the griller back on the fire for a few minutes to burn off the grease/re-season. Take it off and let it cool down and you are good to go.

These burgers come out super juicy and almost crispy on the outside from the high heat. Much better than any hot dog or bologna sandwich.

    Enjoy Friends!
