The clip-fed, 5-shot, bolt-action Springfield Model 1903 was the primary battle rifle of the U.S. military from its introduction up until 1936 and saw action as recently as Vietnam. The Model 1903 was based on a Mauser design, but differs from other rifles of the time by using a two-piece firing pin. During the build up to World War I, many of these rifles were produced by the military’s Rock Island Arsenal to increase production. This rifle features a blade front sight, an adjustable rear sight, and a 2-position thumb safety. Its wood is in very good condition and its metal and bore are in good condition.
