An improved version of the Model 8, Remington’s Model 81 Woodsmaster, is a top-notch semi-automatic hunting rifle produced from 1936 through 1950. The Woodsmaster is capable of reliably cycling powerful centerfire cartridges. The Model 81 uses the same long-stroke recoil operating system as the Auto-5 shotgun and other Browning-style auto-loaders. The rifle comes chambered for .300 Savage rounds with a box magazine that holds five rounds. This rifle is a pre-War standard model but with a checkered forearm. It features a blade front sight, an adjustable rear sight, and a 2-position thumb safety. Its wood, metal, and bore are in very good condition.
