The Model 1911 R1 is truly the finest blend of exacting craftsmanship and out-of-the-box performance available today. Every element is produced with ultra-tight tolerances on equipment representing the height of modern technology. The result is a sweet-shooting advancement of a legendary design that Remington is more than proud to put their name on. Like the original 1911, the 1911 R1 has a flat mainspring housing, short trigger, and double-diamond American walnut grips. Modern enhancements on the 1911 R1 include a flared and lowered ejection port, beveled magazine well, loaded chamber indicator, a precision-machined slide and frame, high profile dovetailed single-dot front and two-dot rear sights, a crisp 3.5 - 5 lb. trigger pull, and a match-grade stainless steel barrel, and barrel bushing. It also has the Series 80-style firing pin block safety. The Remington 1911 R1 ships in a custom plastic carry case with two seven-round anti-friction magazines and a barrel bushing wrench.

    I was looking to buy the Citadel or the GI Mil Spec. I couldn't see the sights with my 56 yr old eyes. The Remington sights were Huge and it felt "just right" in my hand. Extremely accurate and well put together. One of the GanderMtn RO's thought I had had a trigger job done and when I told him it was stock his reply was "No Way!"

    Good gun. I've had no jams or issues with it. Very accurate right out of the box. It doesn't get more than 3 stars because I've owned this gun for about a year and it already is losing the bluing near the muzzle. Not a big deal, because I can have it refinished with a better product but if you want to keep it original don't count on the finish lasting.

        This is one gorgeous gun. Right out of the box I was hitting 1.5" groupings at 20 meters. It's a near perfect firearm. Could not recommend it any higher.

          I use this product for target shooting and home protection. I also promote remington against all other hanguns at range. I have had Kimber owners say that they were amazed at the quality and accuracy right out of the box. I also purchased the Enhanced version R1 one week later because of my experience with the original R1 great job Remington.
