        Poor Rapala quality; split ring FAILED

          I was fishing brand new Rapala Skitter Pop SP09SB lure when a moderate size sea trout hit. After a brief battle, the sea trout was off. When I reeled the SP09SB in, I noticed that the complete Number 3 treble hook assemble, including split ring was gone.

          Contacted Rapala Customer Service and requested new split ring or that they provide split ring size and I would buy. Told my only option is to send complete lure back to them at my expense, to include recommended insurance. I repeated that all I was requesting was a split ring and nothing else. Rapala still required that the lure be sent in and sending split ring was not an option.

          Cost of shipping box, postage, and insurance far exceeded cost of new split ring / treble hook assembly.

          Note: Understand need for failure analysis, but not at customer expense
