      • Fishing in Channels

I fished this in a channel. It was about 50 degrees and raining. Dad didn't think we would get anything. He was extremely surprised when I hauled in an 18 inch Northern Pike on this lure. I used the color Pink Glass Clown and I recommend this lure to anyone who likes suspending lures. Only con is that it doesn't suspend perfectly. It sinks very slowly. But it doesn't matter too much. It works very well, and the hooks are very sharp. The 14cm one I purchased had 3 treble hooks on it.

      Worked when other lures didn't!

Was fishing in the Georgian Bay of Lake Huron during the Northern Pike post-spawn in early May! The pike wouldn't hit anything, not even live bait! I am a Rapala purist, and love the balsa wood lure approach. I was skeptical of a plastic "rattling" Rapala! But WOW, these things caught fish when my "normal" Rapalas, Mepps bucktails, Dadevel spoons, various jigs, and 4 to 6 inch live shiners did not! One of the "locals" suggested it and now I am hooked! Eleven pike in an hour, after being skunked on everything else!

I use this lure for casting off of shore for walleyes. The glass clown color always seems to catch the most fish. There are NO downfalls to this great Rapala lure!!!

This bait is suppose to suspend in the water column in cool to cold water. Both of my HJ-14 floated after the lure was paused, this was in water temps of 41-47 degrees. After the replacement, the lure again performed like a slow floater rather than a true suspender. I added 5 suspend dot lead tapes and was able to make the lure do what it's advertised to do. The quality control is very poor with Rapala and just hope you will get a good batch. Obviously, it was not the case for me.

              Service and delivery comments:

Great customer service, it was replaced and shipped. I would shop with Gander Mountain again.

Great sale by Gander Mtn. earlier this year on a great lure by Rapala: The Husky Jerk. I bought four of them, each a prime color and size for fishing Muskie, Pike, Walleye, just about anything, on Lake St Clair! Great selection on the sizes and colors too. Great product for the son to learn how to fish with as well. Highly recommend!

I use the glass minnow version to fish for walleye and trout below a dam that discharges a large amount of smelt at times. The glass minnow version mimics the smelt very well and has produces many large fish. I wish the original floater came in this color variation. Prior to using this, the classic silver and black was my mainstay and is now a backup
