Comments about Primos® Hot Dog™ Coyote Call:
The thing I like the most is the letters on the reed area. In the instructions they will tell you to use the letters and move or how much to blow. The thing i dont like is how fake it sounds. I think open reed calls stink. I completely recommend closed reed calls!

Comments about Primos® Hot Dog™ Coyote Call:
The Hot Dog is a very loud howler that can carry sound over a long distance. In addition to howling you can also do a variety of other sounds on it which makes it more effective than just having a howler in your bag. You can do a female whimper, ki-yi, barks, and a few others. I'm a beginner and it took me about 2 hours of practice time to really be proficient with this caller.

Comments about Primos® Hot Dog™ Coyote Call:
I purchased this and my brother-in law purchased the lil dog. We both are somewhat new to the hand calling world but listened to the instructional CD and gave it a try. Niether one of us had luck with the hot dog, the open reed on this call is rather large and covers the entire width of the call. I felt like when I'd make the howl my lips/mouth would come into contact with the reed and kill the sound I was making. Whereas the lil dog has the smaller reed and does not seem to have the same problem as the hot dog. I am able to make the sounds I want with the lil dog, whereas the hot dog I was always hesitant that the sound would come out funky. The hot dog however (when it works) does produce a deeper more mature sounding howl than the lil dog and it DEFINITLY will get your sound over a farther distance. An added bonus to Primos niether one felt like it froze up in the cold. So maybe it was our inexperience or just a bad call out of the batch but I'm sticking to the lil dog.

Comments about Primos® Hot Dog™ Coyote Call:
Like i said we haven't tried it hunting yet. But we did mess with it. You can yip do a ki-iy do a disstressed pup and all that good stuff but it is hard to howl. You can howl but you have to do it really really really loud until it sounds like a howl. so i don't know mabey we just got a bad one.

Q:
when should i use the call?Asked on 12/5/2008 by Anonymous2 answers
A:
First you have to know the different types of barks, yips, and howls a coyote can produce, and know how to create those same sounds on this call. Anytime is the right time to use this call. I personally like to use it right away to locate them by using an intimidation howl. This is a long nice howl. do about two howls, then wait 3-5 min. If you hear nothing, try one more howl. after about 15 min of hearing nothing, that might indicate that there are no coyotes around, or they're just not responding. But if you know there are coyotes around you can use a challenge howl. It starts out loud and increase in pitch very fast, and you just quite when you reach the peak pitch of the howl. The challenge howl last about a sec if done properly. DO NOT DO MORE THEN THREE CHALLENGE HOWLS IN THE SAME PLACE! If the coyotes do respond to your first couple howls in beginning, set up and then do two challenge howls, followed by a couple barks. Get ready fast, they will come!Answered on 12/25/2008 by Trent from New Richmond, WIA:
I meant interrogation howl on my last answer to this product...not intimidation...sorry.Answered on 12/25/2008 by Trent from New Richmond, WI
