    Used to secure plywood flooring on pontoon boat. Screw heads are tough and do not round out. Used pilot drill 1/8" and screws went into steel floor supports without any problem. The head uses a #3 size phillips bit and does not round out.

    These screws might work well to secure decking to aluminum cross channels but not to steel cross channels on a boat dock. I pre-drilled 11/64" holes in the steel but about 15% of the 3/16" screws stripped or broke as I tried to drive them in. Removing the bad screws took a lot of time and effort. One bag of screws was especially difficult. I would not recommend using the screws to fasten anything to steel.

                            #3 phillips, bought pack of 5 at local hardware store and have not used but one on 50 plus screws. The hex in the phillips head is deep and well defined.
