Anodized aluminum spool has a titanium lip for added line protection. Also features Sure-Click bail, a smooth front drag system with oiled felt washers, and audible drag adjustment. The IM8 graphite rod is lightweight and has stainless steel guides with aluminum oxide inserts and a comfortable split-grip cork handle.

Over a year ago my father bought the reel for this outfit and fell in love with it. I had a cheaper Quantum at the time, and after borrowing his outfit for a fishing trip, I realized how much further it cast and smoother it reeled. So, this year, when I noticed this combo with a rebate I had to get it. Aside from the reel being great, I actually like the rod it comes with better than my father's. He bought a 100$ rod, but the action of this rod is just as good and the additional cork above the reel makes it particularly comfortable to cast.

I use it mainly for canoe fishing on a small stream and all I can say is it is exciting to fight a ~15" bass in with this little outfit!That said, bigger fish are definitely at the limits of this little outfit's capability. But I suppose that is half the fun!The other half is eating the fish of course!

Anyway, I'm sure there is a better combo out there. But at least when I was looking at other options, comparable outfits were at least twice the money. So, taking into account the price, I had to give it five stars.
