This system worked great. The dog was able to roam free in the yard without getting its leash wound up on trees or the porch. The dog was pretty freaked out the first few days, but after about two weeks she was fine. Overall I think the dog is much happier. Then after a year and a half the collar stopped working. The collar lists for around $150 and can't be found cheap.

Comments about PetSafe™ Instant Fence Wireless Pet Containment System™:
Set up is great, but difficult to train when battery and assembly issues occured. Poor dog was shocked when he should have been. Resetting the system didnt help. replaced batteries (at my expense after 1 mo) didnt help. needed a new unit. Gander didn't take it back at first, had to argue due to it being n the shelf for too long. New version is out, get that one.

Comments about PetSafe™ Instant Fence Wireless Pet Containment System™:
We bought this for our German Short Hair Pointer- she is constant movement outside in our 2 acre yard.
She also goes to work with my husband and he can set it for smaller area to keep her around the service truck. after a couple of months even with the collar off she knows her boundaries and hesitates going past, even when we call her to.
wish they made another smaller version for on the road, for vehicle.

A:
This is used outside. It covers a diameter of 180 feet. This will sit in the middle and if the pet tries to go outside of the
circle it will emit a shock to keep them in the maintained area.Answered on 9/4/2009 by Matt from Gander Tech

A:
It better!.....it'll be far better off being shocked then when I catch it if after I spent this type of money on the system to keep my dog in place. :) No most of these systems shut off after a few seconds to keep battery life up and to keep from burning and hurting the dogs skin.Answered on 7/30/2009 by firechief10 from Northern Virginia
