Comments about Pelican Boats Pelican Predator 103 Fishing Boat:

Although only 10 feet long this really is a full featured boat. I use it on lakes and relatively calm rivers and have taken it out on the Columbia river (at Longview, Wa).

I also have exceeded the HP rating by mounting an 8 HP, two-stroke, short shaft Yamaha engine on it. For docking/undocking I've mounted a small 6 lb thrust electric on the bow.

For a small boat it is amazingly spacious. It can seat two people in the front, two in the rear, and two on the captains seats. In practice though that is probably too many people and the most I've taken out on it were two other adults and a small dog and that is probably right at capacity (rated at 500 pounds). With three adults it handles great and sails smoothly over the water.

The boat is light and fairly easy for one person to handle. I carry it on a small flat trailer holding it down with cinch straps and just slide it off and slide it on at boat ramps. (I saw another fellow carry his in the back of his pickup but that required two guys to unload/load it)

I've got to mention a couple of cons:

I wish the rear transom were 5 or 6 inches wider so I could mount both my Yamaha and my electric. As it is I have to mount my electric on the bow transom which is a little inconvienent when I'm fishing alone.

Also the hull seems to be especially suseptible to condensation and draining the hull is a somewhat difficult task for one person. I purchased a length of flexible tubing that I use for siphoning the water out and can get most of it without removing the boat from the trailer. It would be nice if a siphon hose was built in and could be connected to with a fitting on the hull.

Overall I really enjoy this boat and would definitely recommend it to others.

Comments about Pelican Boats Pelican Predator 103 Fishing Boat:

I use this boat primarily in the Galveston bay complex, although I have taken it up the Brazos, and San Bernard rivers.
I exceeded the recomended engine hp and added a mercury 9.9,which Runs and feels perfect. I use the livewell as a cooler to save space. I also added a lowrance fish finder and a minkota riptide trolling motor.
This boat cruises at about 15mph and will motor through 13 inches of water with the use of a jackplate. I can go into back lakes and marshes previously held sacred by kyakers. This thing can get in there. It's very stable, as I fish almost exclusively standing up,and seaworthy in the moderate to choppy waters of the bays.

Private Lake, no problem. But it does not have the necassary hookups for proper bow and stern lights.

According to the specs, the boat is prewired. I assume this is for bow and aft lights.
