Comments about Pacific Aerials P6035 VHF 3 Ultraglass Antenna:

Great antenna! Comes with a pre installed modular fitting on the end of the cable for the center pin connector that comes with the antenna. No need to buy one. Took 5 minutes to replace my old broken antenna. Attach the new antenna to your mount, pull the wire to your radio, attach the enclosed center pin connector to the modular fitting on the cable then connect cable to your VHF and test. Works great.

Comments about Pacific Aerials P6035 VHF 3 Ultraglass Antenna:

I had a 3' stainless whip on my boat from a manufacturer that is no longer in business. It was a great whip with strong reception until it finally vibrated apart on the long road trip home from the FL panhandle.

When comparing this arial to that one the performance is very lacking. The first one of these I received caused a lot of static on my radio. Overtons customer service (excellent by the way) RMA'd that unit for a replacement.

The replacement doesnt have the static but the performance both sending and receiving is far less than I expected. Range and clarity are both much less than I expected at the 3-5 mile mark offshore. I can't say that there's anything wrong with the unit I have but Ido know that it doesnt perform as well as my original whip under the same conditions.

In hindsight I should have gotten a 6-8 arial or a whip from the more brands. I'll test this unit to the 8-10 mile mark offshore the next time I get the chance, if it doesnt perform I'll replace it since my radio is a big part of my safety equipment.
