It took only 2 minutes to set up and then we were out with the grandchildren waterskiing/tubing. The panoramic feature eliminates the need to adjust he mirror when they move across the wake, back and fore.
Theonly improvement I would like to see is to coat the ball joint so that it moves easier and is protected against the marine environment. I put WD 40 on it but it needs a season to be tested.

When the mirror arrived, I was surprised at how big it was. I guess I didn't get my tape measure out to see just how big 4"x14" was. It's much bigger than the mirrors on other boats I've been around, which have been about the size of car mirrors. While being big allows you to see more, the mirror borders on being in the way. Also, the thumb screw doesn't work very well with the way our windshield is made. We had to make an extra little metal plate to go between the thumb screw and the little rubber deal. We have yet to see how well that works.

Comments about Overton's Overton's™ Panoramic Boat Mirror, 4" x 14":
As I said before, it has an attractive design, but there is a very small, thin, plastic bracket that cannot hold up. Due to rough water created by wakes of other boats, the adjustments have to be tight, and the mirror parts have to be substantial to survive the pounding. I have a 23 foot Sea Ray boat at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia.

The 1 inch mount should work, but mirror seems to be too large to be mounted on side windshield, you would not be able to see to the rear, I don't believe.Answered on 6/5/2010 by Pollywog from Port Charlotte, FL
Q:
I have one of these mirrors and I can't mount it on my winshied because my windshield thicknes is about 3/8" thick. The thumbscrew is not long enough and the space within the mount bracket is too great. It needs a shim that can be tapped to work with the thumb screw and the rubber gasket. Isn't it supposed to have a shim that will take up the space. I need help.
