Thank you for your question. You could certainly use snaps---but the size of carpet may be a bit over-whelming to handle. I would suggest you call our technical support staff to discuss this and other options in more detail.

We are looking for a darker grey carpet. Is midnight grey tones or blue? Same question for Juniper- grey or blue?
Asked on 10/20/2009 by Amy from minnesota

          1 answer

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

The midnight is more of a blue/black color and the Juniiper is a grey/green hue. I would recommend that you order the samples for the carpet because it is all non-returnable and non-refundable. The samples are item numbers 35970 and 35971.

whould this product work to cover bunk boards that are under
a 24 ft cudy. I am only asking this because I like the coler
and my bunks are 6in wide and it seems the only thing offered
by overton's for that size is in black?

            A:

This carpet is cut in 8.5' widths and is sized for replacing the flooring in your boat. We have carpet cut specifically for bunks. Not sure what the length of your bunks are, but we also offer a 12ft bunk carpet in a deluxe version with color options (see item 71847). This only comes 11"W x 12'L. Our other widths in the standard black carpet are 4, 8, 12, and 24", all coming in 12ft lengths (see items 70990, 70991, 70992, and 76098.

Answered on 7/20/2009 by Ryan from Overtons
          • A:

Yes, any marine carpet will work on the bunks. The length is the only thing you need to consider. If your bunks are longer than 8ft, you will have to get that length to cover them. If you only have 2 bunks, there will be alot of wast. If they are under 8ft, you can run the carpet sideways to get them with less carpet. measure around the bunk, then X it by the number of bunks to get how much carpet you need.

I have a 19.5 ft Promaster. There is carpet everywhere except the floor. How much carpet do I need?
          Asked on 7/15/2009 by Anonymous

          1 answer

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

This comes in 8.5' widths. If there are no consoles, seats, etc. to measure around, then you would need to order at least 20ft to be on the safe side. It is recommended that you measure the square footage you will need before ordering and not go off of the boats length only. Please contact our tech department for more information at 1-800-334-6541

Do I need to remove the old carpet or can I glue the new carpet down on top of the old?
Asked on 7/13/2009 by Don from Phoenix, AZ

          2 answers

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

It is recommended that you remove the old carpet and glue for proper adhesion when installing new carpet. You will want to scrape and sand all the old glue down so that the new glue will adhere properly.

Answered on 7/20/2009 by Ryan from Overtons
          • A:

YES, You need to remove all the carpet and backing off that you want to replace. The rubber backing will sometimes stay on the boat when carpet is removed. If its not cleaned off, your new carpet will be lumpy. Never try to put carpet over carpet. It wont stick down and it would look terrible.

        • Q:

I have a two level deck (just purchased home) made of untreated decking that has had little care. One level is 20'x 24', the other is 10' x 10'. Here are my questions:
          1. How much carpet will I need?
          2. How much adhesive?
          3. This deck received full sun most of the day. We live in Central New Jersey where the carpet will be exposed to all manner of weather conditions: ice cold, snow, rain, summer heat, etc. The deck is a couple yards from an in-ground pool that is chem'd with chlorine.
3a. How long will the carpet survive under such condition?
3b. Can the adhesive take this kind of wear? (It is moderate use.)
3c. How long will it take the carpet to dry after a relatively good rain?
Asked on 7/9/2009 by Rob from Central New Jersey

          1 answer

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

This carpet is sold by the running foot and is 8.5ft wide. You will need to measure the areas that will be carpeted in the levels provided to determine how many feet you will need. The amount of adhesive depends on the final square footage you will be covering (1 gallon treats up to 125 square feet). This carpet is designed as an indoor/outdoor carpet and can be exposed to all weather elements, but like most outdoor fabrics/materials, will need replaced over time. It has been tested against chlorine exposure and will hold up to this and the other conditions listed. Depending on how heavy of a rain you receive, the carpet should dry out within 24 hours, especially if exposed to sunlight. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact our tech department (1-800-334-6541) for more information

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

The carpet is 8.5' wide and the quantity you order is the length. For example, if you order 20 units then you will recieve a roll of carpet that is 8.5'wide X 20'long.

Answered on 6/22/2009 by Michael from Overtons
          • A:

If you are doing the boat from front to back including cabin. You will need 44ft. That would be about 15 yards. If you are just doing the outside carpet, you need the distance from the froward most part of the floor you want to cover to the back times 2. This will be enough to do the floor and sides. A running foot is 12 inches X the width of the carpet. A running yard is 36 inches X the width of the carpet.
