Comments about Overton's Overton's 20-oz. Malibu Marine Carpeting, 6' wide:
I posted a rewiew on this a couple of months ago. It never showed up on here. I am a customer who purchased this poor quailty carpet and I want this posted so others wont make the same mistake. I called the manufacturer, as Overtons said I needed to, and they refused to do anything about the situation.

Comments about Overton's Overton's 20-oz. Malibu Marine Carpeting, 6' wide:
I purchased this carpet for my deckboat. The product was drop shipped to my home from the manufacturer. It was sealed so I did not inspect. I took to an upholstery company to cut out the patterns for my boat. He called me and advised of the poor quality of the carpet. I thought he was exaggerating but when I arrived he was right. It was shedding everywhere and raveling.
I contacted Overtons and they advised me I would have to contact the manufacturer direct. I did and they were unwilling to help in any way. The lady was nice but just laughed and said there was nothing she could do.
I guess this will be a bought lesson and I do not want anyone else to make the same mistake I did. This is my personal experience with Overtons and the manufacturer,Lancer Enterprises. I hope nobody else makes the same mistake I did and I will never trade with either company again.

Comments about Overton's Overton's 20-oz. Malibu Marine Carpeting, 6' wide:
This carpet was used to re-carpet a 1986 searay seville. Lots of out side corners that needed to be covered, lots of contours. The carpet covered them all very well. Did notice that the edges frayed quite a bit when cutting to size. So far there has not been any further fraying once in place.

Comments about Overton's Overton's 20-oz. Malibu Marine Carpeting, 6' wide:
I thought I'd give it a try (install new carpet). The installation was simple, the results flawless. I saved hundreds of dollars and the new carpet is so much nicer than my old carpet which was worn out. If you have a little experence or can find the library (books eh?), give it a try. If not, at least save the carpet cost, buy it from Overton's and contact an installer. You'll still save$.

Q:
What does 20 oz mean? Is that a weight per square foot or something having to do with tensile strength of the thread from which it is made? Once cut to fit does this carpet need to be bound along the edge to prevent fraying/unraveling? How does one know how much adhesive to order? May I order a sample of two or three colors to help decide which one will look the best? Does this carpet need to be streched as it is installed like wall to wall carpet in a house or does it stay in place once installed? How difficult is it going to be to rip this out (sometime down the road) to replace it? ThanksAsked on 8/20/2009 by Anonymous from Slapout, Alabama1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
I would recommend calling us and actually get a sample card so you could color match if needed and so you could physically handle the carpet. The item number for the sample card is 35970.Answered on 9/9/2009 by toby from overtons tech. dept.
Q:
can this be used as a snap in carpet if i cut it to fit? do you guys sell the binding as well? is the backing abbrasive and scratch the boat if removed?Asked on 8/4/2009 by scott from ca1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
You could cut it and fill it in if you wanted to. Also we do carry the abrasive that will adhere the carpet. Depends on the surface as to what abrasive. Also the carpet has a soft rubber backing on it.Answered on 9/22/2009 by Bryant C from Tech Department

Q:
What is a running foot? Does that mean it is 6ft wide and 1 foot long? So for a 20 1/2 foot boat you would need about 18 feet right?Asked on 6/9/2009 by jill from wv1 answer
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
Running foot just means that the width is standard (6 ft in this case) and your order quantity will be the length you need. So if you order 20 units then the carpet size you receive will be 6' X 20'. The length of the boat does not matter but more importantly you need to know how many feet of carpet are needed for the boat. You may have a 20.5' boat but it may only have 10' of carpet in the main area and then 3' in the bow. Or it could be a pontoon boat where you have solid carpet from front to back.Answered on 6/10/2009 by Michael from Overtons
Q:
I have a unique floor pattern on my boat, so I need to cut my carpet into place. What can I do to prevent the edges from coming undone and to make it look "professional".Asked on 6/1/2009 by Steph from Chicago1 answer
A:
Hire a professional Flooring Installer in your area that is familiar with indoor/outdoor carpet and rv/boat applications. Have him give you an estimate and schedule your installation. Smile that it was done right, and enjoy :)Answered on 1/18/2010 by John the carpet man from Rapid City, SD
