Comments about Old Town Vapor 10 Kayak:

We have 2 and use then for MANY weekend trips. There is plenty of room for gear and extras we dont take backpacking like a folding chair perculated coffee pot and a few other things we wouldnt normally take.
There is 2 flaws I can find. 10 there is no drain plug, and thats an easy fix but ITS ANOTHER $20.00 also with 2inches of water in the bottom from high waves or some mild whitewater, it becomes very unstable fast. as for a skirt, there is not a good fitting one. we added an NSR but had to retrofit it. (IT does work)
Overall these kayaks have given us years of enjoyment.

does this have any way to float if swamped. you know, like foam or air bags.

Yes, this has foam in the bow and the stern, although it does not float well enough to maintain its bouyancy with an occupant, but it will not sink on its own

Yes, I am 6'3" 250 lbs, and I fit great. The cockpit is nearly 50" and very easy to enter and exit

I just bought one. I am 6'-1" 220lbs. When I sit in it with my feet on the last setting my legs are only slightly bend, almost straight out. I think you are supposed to have them bent like rowing.

Answered on 6/14/2010 by Yoda from Greenville, NC
            • A:

The range is reasonable from 5'0 to 6'5. After that it could be cramped. You should have your knees bend and controlling the boat, at least in fast water.

Yes! I'm 6'3" and I fit fine. Easy to get in and out of with the large opening. My wifes Otter I have a hard time with.
