Comments about Old Town Guide Canoes:
My wife and I have been using this canoe in the river for years. It holds more gear than a kayak and is quite stable. The seatbacks make a day one the water comfortable. It's not meant for one person but if you sit in the back and put your gear up frony it can be done. It is a little heavy for one person to handle but if you want light weight materials you're going to have to pay extra for it. This is a good value.

Comments about Old Town Guide Canoes:
Have had the Guide for over 9 years now, I often fish standing up in the canoe. Have never been able to flip mine. Love it. My mother also will come canoeing with me, and she is scared of the water.

Comments about Old Town Guide Canoes:
i bought it a couple of weeks ago. i t was hard to put it on the roof rack by myself. the first time it was me and my 2 sons, so there was 3 of us.no problem. the last 3 times i went by my self and this was the reason i bought it. it was hard to get on and off my trail blazer. i did by the one person attachment from cabelas to put it on the roof rack and that was tricky. today i flip it in the water trying to attach the anchor to the back where i sit and that was a bad mistake. it flipped the canoe. the canoe does not float like some other canoe i have been in. the seats should have some floaty stuff in it so at least you could be in the canoe that is full of water and maybe paddle to land. i was a boy scout and i remember flipping the canoe as the test at camp to get the ok to use the canoe and those canoe floated even full of water. this canoe could be better. but i am not an expert and sould never tried to us a ancher in a canoe in the back seat with me. i am not sure which canoe will float if full of water, this one should have floated better and i should have more weight in the front. i was in a lake.

Comments about Old Town Guide Canoes:
This is good if you take someone along not only to help you carry the canoe but it also helps hold the front of the canoe down in the water better. It's hard to control if you are in it alone and the wind is blowing hard. It will blow the nose of the canoe around and you'll have to paddle fast to point it where you want to go. It doesn't move all that fast in the water but isn't bad either. I've enjoyed it for the time I've had it even though it's a bit heavy.

Service and delivery comments:
Great canoe I'm glad I picked this one over the others. I had it in the water only once last year but it was great it handle very well. Took the family on a 10 mile trip. Im 6 foot 200 pounds 2 kids an the wife. Handled great felt very stable the back rest is a nice thing to have. 2 cons heavy an the seats fill like your going to slide out of them but a easy fix. I'm getting ready to take it out fishing this spring I'm sure I'll find more things that I like about it. Buy it you will love it good buy for the money.

Q:
Are the seatbacks removeable? If I want to go out alone I'd want to sit in the front seat for better weight distribution.Asked on 5/11/2011 by D. Piggins from Columbia, TN1 answer
A:
Leave the seat backs on and sit in the back. You'll have to put some weight up front ( like a beer cooler ). Trust me you can't paddle from the front.Answered on 4/6/2012 by Bull from Altamaha river, Ga.
