I started out with a whisker biscuit on my bow and I made the mistake of using arrows with the 4 inch feathers and not the two. I was ruining them after about 10 shots they were ripping, I took the whisker biscuit back and picked up this rest. I think the problem everyone else is describing is caused by improper tuning, the rest hasn't been properly adjusted to the arrows diameter. You can adjust the brushes to your arrow size if you have it tight to the arrow its going to ruin the brushes quickly, you want them a little loose. On your draw back its pretty quiet and the release is just the same, overall this is a pretty good rest I would buy another one.

I purchased the Mathews DXT two weeks ago and had the Hostage Pro installed. Once I was shooting my bow I realized the most perfect pattern I have ever shot with years of intense practice. After setting up my 10 & 20 yard pins, and 60 arrows later I decided to continue onto the 30 yard pin. "Why not after placing 12 arrows in a 2" Bulls Eye repeatedly. At 10 and 20 yards. So I began taking aim at the 30 yard pin and got within 4" of the Bulls Eye, on the first 12 arrows. Then I started loosing my pattern on the second dozen and I inspected my entire bow and the only thing that I found was that the brushes were so worn that I could no longer hold a pattern. I was all over the target. And my Hostage Pro was worn out. I went back to the shop that I purchased the bow from and had the Hostage Pro removed and replaced with a high quaility drop away. (AT NO EXTRA CHARGE) Thanks to the makers of the Hostage Pro... No Doubt... Which I have shot for some time and also have become to trust my drop away on my Parker Bow. I would not put another Hostage Pro on either of my bows even if it were given to me free of charge. The design looks awesome and it does work and it works well. Until 50 Arrows pass through it. Then its a piece of scrap that needs to hit the trash can. I know that I will never install any rest that will need part replacement every 50 shots on any bow that I own. Afterall I have arrows to shot.. Good luck fellow Bow Hunters...

Comments about Octane Hostage Pro Arrow Rest:

I have owned this rest for 2 months now and shoot almost everyday in my yard. I have not found even one fault with the rest. It is very easy to tune to the bow and I agree with Longbeard Chaser the problems being experienced by others may be due to improper tuning.

BEST NEW IDEA THAT I HAVE SEEN AND USED IS VERY EASY TO INSTALL AND CAN BE SET FOR ANY ARROW. WILL NOT CHANGE THE WAY IT SETS ON THE REST OR THE FLIGHT REGARDLESS OF THE DIAMETER OF THE ARROW.

you have to know now to tune your bow and make shot nothing touches the brushes or they will ware fast if your vanes touch the brushes will only last 20 to 30 shot. have your bow and arrows tuned by your local pro shop for best use.
