Comments about Nikon RifleHunter 550 6 x 21 Laser Rangefinder:
I wanted a rangefinder and received this as a gift. What I most like is the option to judge distance from the ground or in a tree while hunting.
I haven't used it yet but look forward to next hunting season. My sons and brothers think we should share the rangefinder next season

Comments about Nikon RifleHunter 550 6 x 21 Laser Rangefinder:
The Nikon is great on large objects and during good sunlight. My only problem is I can not see the range in real low light, when all the deer seem to come out. Just understand it has limitations for real small objects and low light. Sure would be nice if the range displayed in LED's.

Use it for both hunting and range shooting. It's simple to use and the default settings are the one's you'll most likely want to use. Seems very accurate. Great companion for your trajectory table when making longer distance shots. No complaints.

Comments about Nikon RifleHunter 550 6 x 21 Laser Rangefinder:
I hunt both archery and with a rifle. I feel I'll get the most benefit for archery hunting, however the Archer's Choice model is only good for 5-100 yards, and I wanted one that could range find for those occasional long rifle shots. This model works from 10-550 yards (I ranged some building and barns out to 650 yards). I did not get it in time for archery season, however I took it out in rifle season and got very good results. It's easy to switch from regular and I/D mode with a push of the button. This model has all the features of the Archer's choice, but has greater range, and also has the ability to switch between first target priority and distant target priority modes. The Archer's Choice only does first target priority. The only disadvantages are the slightly higher cost, and the neoprene case is not included. I'll buy the case, as I want to protect the unit every way possible. I researched many models over the past 2 years by their specifications, and felt this was a good buy for the features and value. It seems like a well built and rugged unit. I haven't used the unit a lot, but it has met or exceeded my expectations so far, and I think will help greatly in increasing accuracy with the bow especially, instead of guestimating yardage.

Can this be used for bow hunting also? I noticed only a 6 yard difference from the archer choice model.Asked on 3/9/2009 by dave from Lakewood,Pa.1 answer
A:
Yes, this can be used for bow hunting. It uses the same technology as the Archers Choice, but can range farther. IMO it is a better purchase because you have the best of both worlds.Answered on 6/24/2009 by Oncechance from Fort Wayne, IN
Q:
How far out does the ID technology go? Some units stop after 100 yards or so. Does this one still have that ability out to 500 yards?Asked on 1/3/2009 by Anonymous from Santa Fe, NM0 answers
Q:
The description states that the product is accurate within .5 yd up to 100, and within a yard out to 500. I am curious though with it being able to measure out to 500 yards, how close to the hunter will it register, or how little of a distance?Asked on 11/21/2008 by Matt from Greenville, NC3 answers
