Use it for both hunting and range shooting. It's simple to use and the default settings are the one's you'll most likely want to use. Seems very accurate. Great companion for your trajectory table when making longer distance shots. No complaints.

Comments about Nikon RifleHunter 550 6 x 21 Laser Rangefinder:

I hunt both archery and with a rifle. I feel I'll get the most benefit for archery hunting, however the Archer's Choice model is only good for 5-100 yards, and I wanted one that could range find for those occasional long rifle shots. This model works from 10-550 yards (I ranged some building and barns out to 650 yards). I did not get it in time for archery season, however I took it out in rifle season and got very good results. It's easy to switch from regular and I/D mode with a push of the button. This model has all the features of the Archer's choice, but has greater range, and also has the ability to switch between first target priority and distant target priority modes. The Archer's Choice only does first target priority. The only disadvantages are the slightly higher cost, and the neoprene case is not included. I'll buy the case, as I want to protect the unit every way possible. I researched many models over the past 2 years by their specifications, and felt this was a good buy for the features and value. It seems like a well built and rugged unit. I haven't used the unit a lot, but it has met or exceeded my expectations so far, and I think will help greatly in increasing accuracy with the bow especially, instead of guestimating yardage.
