Comments about Mustang Survival Mustang Deluxe Manually Activated Inflatable PFD:
The Mustang Inflatable PFD's are the finest inflatable vests on the market. This is my second one (my first one was included in the sale of a kayak) and I will never consider another brand, although you can find some brands out there for a little less money.
Look who uses them... US Coast Guard personnel, rescue flyers and rescue swimmers; NASA astronauts, Commercial fishermen; US Air Force personnel and even most of the deckhands on TV's "Deadliest Catch" wear Mustang vests. If in doubt of the users of this vest and other great gear, visit Mustang's website. Their equipment is not sold on that site, it is informational only.
The reason you are looking at a LIFE VEST is for one thing....to save your life if you go in the water unexpectedly! In my humble opinion, there is no excuse to try and save a few dollars when your life or the life of a daughter, son, spouse or good friend could be jeopardized by having a cheap and unreliable life vest. Why risk it? Life is too short and it could be shorter if you skimp on a life vest and even shorter if you FAIL TO WEAR your PFD!
The Mustang is light and cool in hot weather, you barely know you are wearing it...almost as un-noticeable as a pair of suspenders...but if it is ever needed, you can count on Mustangs' reliability. You as an owner of this vest do have to check it before wearing it...every time. Just a quick glance at the see through window tells you it is armed and ready. And remember too...this particular vest is MANUAL only...in other words, it will not automatically inflate if you go into the water. I am purchasing this option because all of my time on the water is in a kayak, and I do occasionally get caught in heavy storms and have to contend with large boat wakes which splash overboard sometimes...and I do not want a large splash or wave setting off my life jacket accidentally. And sometimes, in extreme heat, I like to slip overboard for a quick cooling-off dunk....yet I leave my PFD on, just in case. So please be aware of this with this particular model.
I must also say the service I received here at Overton's was most excellent. I ordered my vest on a Friday afternoon, I received an e-mail confirming my order within minutes, telling me my delivery would be within 4 days, and was I ever surprised to see it delivered in excellent condition the next afternoon! That was totally unexpected! My hat is off to Overton's and you can be assured I will be using them again in the future for other purchases.

It's like no other vest I've ever owned, comfortable, lite weight and doesn't get in your way of fishing (BUT) you have the protection if something goes wrong.

Q:
What is the distance from the collar to the bottom front of the vest. I want a pfd that goes all the way to my waist and doesn't stop at mid-belly.Asked on 9/17/2011 by KenE from Rock Hill, SC1 answer
A:
The distance between the collar where it contacts the back of your neck to the bottom of the waist strap is 19 inches. I am 6 feet tall and weigh 190 pounds, and when the waste band is fastened snugly, it is 'about three fingers' above my navel.Answered on 9/7/2012 by U12Yak from Buford, GA
