First released in 1967, Mossberg's Model 800 was designed to be an entry-level bolt-action rifle sold by Montgomery Ward department stores. Mossberg liked the dependable, 635-derived Benson and Seecamp design so much that they produced their own version of the rifle as the 800. The bolt face is counterbored and allows venting of any escaped gases through a bolt body venting system. Six forward locking lucks provide strength and stability. The stock is checkered with an attractive art deco design. This rifle features a fixed blade front sight, a folding leaf rear sight, a Simmons 8-Point 3-9x32mm scope, and a tang-mounted safety. Its wood, metal, and bore are all in good condition.
