Awesome!!! I am 5ft 2in, 128pds, female and over 50. I have already had 2 major back surgeries and shoulders are not their best. I have never owned a shotgun but felt it's time to invest in something affordable, usable and will get the job done (if needed). I wanted a reputable weapon that is known for it's quality and dependability. Mossberg 535 was my final choice. Within 25 minutes of my purchase I took my weapon to the local shotgun range. I was totally impressed! For an old gal who has never fired a shotgun I stood my ground, braces this puppy inside my shoulder and against my check and I hit my target dead center on my first 9 shots. The adjustable "Butt-end" is a plus and must and helps ensure customized perfection for various body-builds. The pump-action is smooth and reaffirms who's really in charge of the situation. Although slightly heavy for these old bones I was able to keep my Mossberg steady with each round. The roll-back was manageble and I just love how intimidating this weapon looks and sounds. Many, many looks and positive comments from other shooters at the range. The sound of the pump-action alone is sure to scare any intruder no matter what their size right back out the door (or window) they came through. Love this weapon and highly recommend to others in my age group.

For [$] theirs a lot better options for a home defense shotgun. The retractible stock is very unstable and feels very cheap. The grip is uncomfortable and too small. The action release is in a terrible position and does not allow for a quick loading. The saftey is great for a standard stock but unreliable with a pistol grip as it takes your hand out of the firing position. Returned it for a Remington 870 and added a recoil reduction pistol grip stock. The 870 is just better build quality and feel more solid.

Comments about Mossberg 535 Tactical Pump Shotgun:
The safety slide is a weak link. It was almost impossible to move on initial examination.
Once it is repaired and functional, I expect the gun will be an excellent home defense firearm.

Comments about Mossberg 535 Tactical Pump Shotgun:
I bought this shotgun for defensive purposes, but it now serves as my bird/clay gun as well. (I purchased a 28" barrel with variable chokes and a fixed stock)
Its a nice shotgun, shoots well, lightweight, easy to maintain, etc. I don't like the black furniture as much as wood, but that comes down to cost and personal preference.
The only issue I have with the design is that its hard to reach the button to open the action (I have relatively big hands too). However, I only had this problem with the pistol grip, not the fixed replacement stock I bought.

Comments about Mossberg 535 Tactical Pump Shotgun:
As a long-time pistol user, this shotgun is the best for all-around use. It is light and easy to use and clean. Small enough for home defense but big enough for outdoor shooting. Its tactical look is very stylish.
