        Comments about Miniworks EX Microfilter:

I've used this for 2 years now and it still works like brand new. Easy to use, easy to clean and best of all, it works. Pumps slower than many other filters but for good reason, this baby filters out a lot smaller contaminants than the others. I carry tablets as a backup but I always drink with confidence when using the Miniworks.

Ive tried all the other tablets, ive tried boiling the water, everything, still got sick, used this and did a side by side comparison with the water, is by far the best thing for water filtering, tastes just like tap water. well worth the [$]

          Comments about Miniworks EX Microfilter:

I bought this product just wanting to try it. Now Instead of buying bottled water I use the filter by filtering out water from a dirty lake and also camping streams. The water taste better than store water and by using the filter it costs me pennies for a nice cold glass of water.

          Comments about Miniworks EX Microfilter:

I typically use the filter when my water supply runs dangerously low and resupply isn't an option. Working in a remote, hot and humid climate makes sufficient hydration a daily challenge. The quality filter means I can acquire water from sources that would otherwise be dangerous to use.

anything that has water, dont recomend a puddle, but streams, and lakes, doesnt matter, will take everything out and make it clean and safe to drink.

The best place is in the middle of the lake, where there is no crud on top, dip down arms length and use that. Good rule of thumb is if it looks dirty it is dirty. Shallow areas pick up dirt and lessen filter life. We use a large bladder (old gravity filtration bag system) hanging from a tree to store lake water and filter from that into water bottles or cooking pots. Fetching water also keeps the kids busy.

I got a full summer of weekend camping and hiking water. I always replaced the filter in the spring. But I have never ran out of fresh water. So my answer would be not to find out. replace once a year. Unless you are filtering for a small town.

MSR claims the filter cartridge is good for 2000 liters of water. That may change depending on the water being filtered.
