merrell The Refuge Core Mid-Cut Waterproof Hiking Boot delivers dry comfort that goes anywhere you want to go. Heightened waterproof mid-cut upper is constructed of nubuck and suede leathers to seal out water and release perspiration. Molded nylon arch shank, compression-molded EVA footframe, and Ortholite anatomical footbed deliver all day comfort. Split heel technology joins dual-density EVA under the heel to absorb shock and discourage over-pronation. Merrell Air Cushion in the heel absorbs shock and adds stability. Waterproof membrane treated with Aegis antimicrobial solution to provide an impermeable barrier. External Instep and heel arm provide stability and support. Strobel construction offers flexibility and comfort. Bellows tongue keeps debris out. Abrasion-resistant rubber toe cap. 5mm Sole lug depth. Vibram Refuge Sole/TC5+ Rubber. Closed-toe hiking boot. Imported.

          I purchased these last year but did not really put them in a wet situation until recently. These boots are not even remotely water resistant much less waterproof. The first contact with a half inch puddle resulted in moisture wicking straight through to my feet. The lesson learned here is to not believe the "waterproof" tag and test any waterproof claims immediately after purchase.
