Comments about Merrell Men's Legacy GORE-TEX Hiker:
I bought these boots 2 years ago for strenuous hiking. Northern Pennsylvania, Glacier, Wyoming Rawah Wilderness. They have proved to be comfortable and durable and it takes a flood to get water inside. The leather needs cleaning and lubrication just like any good hiking boot. 2014 they are going to be my go-to boot for the AT. I am sure I won't be disappointed.

Comments about Merrell Men's Legacy GORE-TEX Hiker:
In the world of hiking boots, you truly get what you pay for, and these Merrell's are no exception. I bought a pair of these at my local Gander Mountain, and drove straight to Palo Duro Canyon where i hiked 8 miles worth of trails wearing these straight out of the box. My feet feel were no worse for wear. No break in period. No blisters. The boots look good and feel great once they're laced down in your ankles. Good job Merrell.

Comments about Merrell Men's Legacy GORE-TEX Hiker:
I love everything about these boots except the price! I own a residential lawn care company with over 200 accounts and me and my guys do PLENTY of walking. These are the best boots on the market they hold out the best that I have seen. Before we had found these boots we were buying a new pair of boots every month now we are down to about 4 pair a year! Keep up the good work Merrell!

Comments about Merrell Men's Legacy GORE-TEX Hiker:
I have had this boot for almost two years now. I wear it to hunt and hike in; it's very comfortable and has really good traction. It is water resistant; I've crossed a couple creeks in them. The only issue I ran into with this boot was the laces. That pretty red fabric that covers the actual shoe string tore lose, every time after when I would try and tighten the laces and tie the shoe the lace covering would wad up at the lace tips. This happened early on in my purchase and happened to both boots. Easy fix though I bought 74 inch boot laces, not as attractive as the red ones, but I don't think I will be having anymore problems with them.

Comments about Merrell Men's Legacy GORE-TEX Hiker:
Great support for carrying heavy loads for a long time. Light.
They really are waterproof! I couldn't believe it...
I've had them for 3 years and they're still holding up great.
I wear a size 12 military boot and my Merrells are 13, just to let you know. Fit better than my Asolos, but every foot is different. Im serious about all the pros listed above, these are a great pair of shoes.

Q:
I am going hiking in Arizona in July. Are these appropriate for the heat? If not does anyone have a recommendation. I am an avid runner but new to hiking. Thanks for the helpAsked on 4/5/2009 by The Duke from Fairborn, Ohio2 answers
CUSTOMER CARE
A:
These boots are very comfortable and lightweight (about 1.5 ls per boot) But they are not going to breath very well, so heat will be an issue.Answered on 4/9/2009 by Spencer from Gander MtnA:
These boots have a decent amount of insulation built in, but its not excessive. Ive used these on hikes with temperatures in excess of 90 degress with no issues. Have fun with hiking!Answered on 3/17/2012 by Alex from Eastern New Mexico
