Many consider the Merkel over-and-under to be the most balanced and natural pointing shotgun available. Merkel manufactures its firearms following strict guidelines like their steel on steel principle and uses time-consuming processes like brush oxidization because it provides extra quality. The highly functional and reliable Merkel lock is a Suhl modification of the Anson & Deeley boxlock of 1875, with compression spring ejectors. Merkel shotguns also utilize a 3-piece forearm configuration that allows the forearm to fit perfectly around the barrels, greatly enhancing the firearm's handling characteristics. This 2002 EL has a coin-finished receiver with full coverage scroll and game scene engraving, all created by hand by master craftsmen. This shotgun features a solid rib, a front bead sight, a tang-mounted safety/barrel selector, and fixed cylinder chokes and comes with a luggage-style case. Its wood, metal, and bore are all in very good condition.
