I shoot the 30-06 cal. using Remington 180 PSP, Nothing fancy or expensive. Shot a sub MOA group at the range at 100 yards usung a caldwell rest. All HOLES TOUCHED! I loved the way the gun shoots. I thought with the synthetic stock it could of used a better recoil pad. The magazine was hard to load in the dark. Probaly just need to get used to it. I wish it had a Winchester type safety ,but that is just my preference. I you chalange you to find a new rifle that shoots this well no matter what price right out of the box. The action is also pillar bedded. I don't think they mentioned that.

i bought this gun in june of 2010. i have sent the gun to the factory three times and it still does not work write. its accuracy is the junkiest of any gun i have bought. it can only shoot 2 inch groups at 50 yards and a 2 1/2 at a hundred yards. i was going to use this gun for hunting but after having this product i would not reccomend it.

Comments about Marlin® Model XL7 Centerfire Rifle:
I didn't buy mine from gander mountain but got the same gun plus a scope with it. Great out of the box performance. I love this gun. The great thing about this gun it will put a animal down. The recoil pad takes a good bit of the recoil out so you can handle more power. Its an all around great gun

Comments about Marlin® Model XL7 Centerfire Rifle:
Got it a week before ky 2009 rifle season and put a bushnell banner 4x12x40ao scope on it. Shot it 7 times with 150gr federal power shok to get it where it should be and killed 9 pt the following week. It shoots good, low recoil, and adjustable trigger. I haven't found a con on it.

Comments about Marlin® Model XL7 Centerfire Rifle:
As others have said...I think this gun gives the best bang for the buck. Accurate, great trigger and great price. If you can't afford a gun with a fancy stock, perfect blueing etc., this is the way to go. I got one last year in 30-06 and have no regrets at all.

Comments about Marlin® Model XL7 Centerfire Rifle:
Wonderful hunting rifle with the right ammo. I use federal with barnes bullets in 165 and with my Leupold VXI, I'm accurate out to 300 yards. Only issues are the safety (which has taken a chunk off my thumb every time I've cycled the bolt in a hurry) and the stock mold was a little bit off, requiring a small spacer under the pillar to correct the barrel rub.

Q:
what kind of scope rings do i need?Asked on 3/5/2010 by chris3 answers
A:
You can easily find anything you need to know about the rife at www.marlinfirearms.comAnswered on 3/18/2010 by .50 AE from Colorado Springs, COA:
chris, the rifle comes with a one piece weaver base so weaver style rings are what you need to use. regardless of the manufacturer, "weaver" style are needed. if you put on a scope with a 40mm objective (ex: 3-9x40) then use medium hieght rings. if over 40mm use high height rings. weaver makes a set of rings for $22. good luck in the woodsAnswered on 10/15/2010 by dave from upstate nyA:
