I had bought a used .22 for my youngest son (each one of my boys received a .22 rifle around age ten). The rifle is an older one, Marlin Glenfield Model 25, which had been discontinued. Great rifle, but the clip was no longer reliable and it needed a new one. . [...] We found an after market (I assume it's after market) clip and I ordered it. [...] worked beautifully. I wholeheartedly recommend Gander Mtn for your outdoor needs. I have nothing negative to say about this fine company. The rifle shoots without a flaw now and my boy loves it.

The mag came in what appeared to be original Marlin packaging, and noted it was made for the discontinued 80, 20, and 25, but made no mention of the fact that it was INCOMPLETE. Of the two magazines I received, NEITHER had the lock/release lever, just a hole where the rivet would go and a notch where the lever and spring would be. I don't know if this is a manufacturing fault or if they're just not including them anymore (I could take the lever off my old one with the broken feed ramp, but how would I retain it if I lost my old one?).

Q:
This magazine is for the rifle marlin model 25?Asked on 10/18/2010 by Hercules from Para, Brazil1 answer

A:
Yes,it will work just fine inyour Model 25. I've had mine for 30 years. I guess eventually the springs in the magazine wear out,but what a great varmint gun other than that.Answered on 12/10/2010 by pistol pete from wichita, ks
Q:
I'm looking for a spare clip for my Marlin 80-DL. Do you folks have any in stock? ThanksAsked on 1/16/2010 by Muffins from Vernon, CT0 answers
Q:
I have a Glenfield Marlin Mod 25. I am looking for an extra mag but before i buy, i want to make sure it fits. People have left comments saying that it doesn't clip in the gun. I don't know if that problem has been fixed and new clips are being distributed, or does the problem still exist.Asked on 10/29/2009 by Robert from CA1 answer
A:
Yes, the problem has been fixed.Answered on 12/1/2009 by Travis from FL
Q:
I have a Marlin Glenfield Mod 25 .22 rifle. it is from the seventies and read that in the eighties, Marlin dropped the Glenfield name all together, just calling it the Marlin Mod 25. should the clips be the same?
thank youAsked on 6/30/2009 by deven from Valparaiso, IN2 answers
A:
From what I can tell from a brief web search, the Marlin Mod 25 is the same as the Glenfield Mod 25. Marlin also made this rifle as the Glenfield Model 20, and as the Marlin Mod 80 and 780.
NOTE: Gander Mtn is sending out these mags with NO lock/release lever! So, there's nothing to retain the mag in the rifle, it'll just fall out. They came from Marlin that way, not Gander's fault.
Since we can't include references to other retailers in our comments, I can't tell you the name of another retailer that has these. I CAN, however, tell you that if you Google "John Masen Glenfield 25", it's the first result, and they're $19.77. Yes, it's $5 more, but hey, at least they're COMPLETE. I got two; the two I got from Gander Mtn will be going back. If you're dead-set on saving $5 per mag, CALL Gander FIRST and have them VISUALLY VERIFY that the mag has the lock lever.Answered on 7/28/2009 by Nick from Worth, MOVERIFIED BUYER
A:
Deven, the clips are the same, but with one exception: the originial held six rounds while the one I received from Gander Mtn holds seven. Works beautifully.Answered on 10/28/2009 by mayor 10 from Gold Beach, Oregon
Q:
will it shoot shorts and long,s too?Asked on 1/2/2009 by Anonymous1 answer
A:
Mod 80 clips do shoot shorts. I did not try the shorts on this new mag but would think it will, as the design appears about the same when compared to original old mag design. I did have a problem with a protruding rivet head on the Pivot Rivet of the Release Latch which I fixed by simply filing the head down slightly.Answered on 10/24/2009 by Pete McD from North Kingstown, RI
