Comments about Lowrance Endura Sierra:
I tought I was getting the top of the line and was only able to use it twice!
The first issue with this unit is the need to upgrade the unit right after I bought it in order to use lakemaster software... I tried several time on the internet (as per Lorance directions). I found out that there is a mirco card that was at the store to do this process as I was trying to return this product! (system not out of box ready)!
The second issue with this unit came when I was using it to set up deer stands. The unit would lose satilites all the time (thank goodness I know the area)! I was planing on taking a hunting trips to Alaska or Canada and use this gps but not after seeing the affects of the trees on satilite reception!
Third issue and final straw with this unit os the number of times I was able to use it. I bought it in 2009 and was only able to use it once in fall 2009 and once more in spring 2010. When I went to used it in spring 2012 (after replacing the batteries with fresh new ones and trying the external power cord) it would not power up AT ALL! I called the Lorance Service Center to fix this and was told a service plan would cost $220.
So now a unit that cost over $400 to buy the first time and then another $220 to fix ater just two uses equates to $620+ and is not worth it just to use this product twice!!!
I will be going back to my Garmin that I bought in Alaska in 2002 (which still works)!!! I will also never letting a sales person talk me out of another Garmin again!
