Comments about Lowrance® Endura™ Out&Back:
I bought the out and back to replace my H2OC that quit recieving sat signals (common with a older H2O!). I love the touch screen but i am unhappy with some other things. First off the out&back uses a microSD card so my old SD card is useless, so i bought a new lakemaster map in microSD format (lakemaster is now part of hummingbird so maps will soon not be available for other brands of GPS). The new smaller card doesnt have any smaller roads on it like the old map and the unit itself has none. Makes finding the boat launches almost impossible. The second thing i dislike is that the waypoints from the old H2O are in a different format and cannot be transfered to the new unit.
The first out&back i bought had some of the plastic broken right out of the box. No problem, exchanged it before i even left the parking lot! Got the second one home and after a few hours of manually inputing some 50 or so waypoints (which is easyer because of the touch screen) batterys were dead. No problem threw 2 new ones in. The problem is now the battery meter shows dead and the red light blinks even though i have new batterys in it.
I like the touch screen, and the fact that it gets better sat reception even indoors. But i hate that there are no residential roads, no lake names on either the GPS or the chip, and the battery meter is way, way, way off.
I loved the H2OC but this new one isnt so great. I guess ill exchange it for a third one (in two days!) and go from there. I think lowrance has some troubles keeping up with technology! Might have to switch brands or just find my fishing spot the old fashoned way (triangulate from landmarks on shore).

The map would show nothing except where you went. No rivers or creeks would show up. It comes with no cables that you have to buy after.

Comments about Lowrance® Endura™ Out&Back:
Just so people know, NO GPS Hand held or otherwise will say o feet to go. the are all close however you will see that all say they are acurate to 3 meters or more this would be 10 feet give or take. it is made to get you to your location not an exact sq. ft. Thank you and enjoy. this is a great GPS for the money

Comments about Lowrance® Endura™ Out&Back:
Saw another review that said this GPS was not accurate at all and had bad maps. I disagreed enough to post my own. This thing is great. Very strong reception - usually ranging in accuracy between 9 and 13 feet EPE which is very good. Easy to learn due to the touchscreen and menu navigation. Works with gloves so you don't freeze your hands off during a North winter. It is also great for folks that have never used a GPS before.
It has really good maps for the money. Most GPS under $200 don't have much in the way of maps but the Out&Back comes with highways, interstates, main city roads and some country roads. It has all of the lakes and rivers marked but with basic detail.
I bought it mainly for deer and duck hunting but it is good for camping and hiking too. It has about 30 hunting icons and another 10 or so for fishing. I can also load hiking trails from the web onto it for free. I am told it will work with marine charts later this Spring but that's not what I bought it for so don't know more on that.
I geocache some and it has one of the best paperless geocaching applications I have ever seen and can even give you filtering ability on the fly. Almost all handheld GPS products including Garmin can't do that yet.
My kids are in grade school and they learned how to use it quickly of course. It even works with playing pictures from my Moultrie game camera while I am standing next to it in the woods.
The only thing I wish it had was an electronic compass but you really can't find a GPS at this price that does have one.
All in all, very solid. I would recommend it to anyone.

Q:
If im hunting and need to get back to my truck but the battery is almost dead will it still save my point if i put new batteries in it?Asked on 11/23/2009 by Anonymous1 answer
A:
Yes, you will be fine changing out your batteries if you are backtracking your trail to the truck.
What would be better is to mark the truck as a waypoint with the truck icon (yes, there is one along with an ATV icon too) and then navigate back to the truck. This option will show where the truck is on the map where if you are just backtracking your walk in, it will show the trail but not show where the truck actually is except maybe to show where the trail ends.Answered on 2/19/2010 by treebeard from Lincoln, NE
