The unit is not really complicated but you have to drill down through the menus to get what you want. I would like to see single button controls for some features.

Comments about Lowrance Color M68C Combo Plotter/Sounder:
I purchased this for our 18 foot ski boat. The dash installed depth finder had gone out and was [$] to replace. I liked the idea of the GPS so thought that spending a little more to have GPS and a Depth finder was worth it. The dash in my boat is small so I had to come up with a way to mount it. The included mount was designed for a flat surface, something that I did not have. I ordered a RAM mount and fabricated a new mount that was shorter and allowed the ball on the RAM mount to mount directly to the GPS/Depth finder. It turned out nice and professional looking. I glued the transponder to the inside of the rear of my boat with special epoxy. This thing has saved the day the last two boating trips. First was July 2nd at Carlyle Lake for the annual 4th of july fireworks show. Due to the high level of the lake and crowded conditions we put in at a ramp we never used before. It was at the far end of the lake. After the fireworks we had a better than 15 mile ride in the dark to get back to the dock. All I had to do was follow the line on the GPS of our track putting in and I wound up right at the dock. This weekend we got caught in a storm on the same lake with a 6 foot swell and heavy wind and rain. The mapping function of the GPS kept me on track even when I had no land marks that I could make out. It was easy to read and was not distracting while I was busy navigating the large waves. I am super happy with my purchase. Highly Recommended especially at this price point!!!

A:
I have not used the routing functions, But you can enter multiple routes and it will save multiple track lines. I am not a fisherman, but the GPS functions are very good I mounted this on my ski boat, and love the mapping functions. The manual is on line so you might find more details in there.Answered on 7/26/2011 by Dale from IL
Q:
how good is it for inshore waters like laguna vista or corpuis christi watersAsked on 1/8/2011 by ski from tx1 answer
A:
This is a pretty sensitive unit as far as fish finding and water depth are concerned. The gps shows a trail (which is kinda hard to get rid of later) but it will get you home safely. The bottom detail starts to diminish at around 60 ft or so ex. shipping channels. But if you are fishing flats or navigating a river or waterway it is great! although the gps isnt as sensitive as I would like, I really like the price and I can follow my trail back from anywhere I go.Answered on 6/15/2011 by Captain J from Georgetown, SC
