Comments about Liberty Safe Liberty 12" Electric Dehumidifier For Safes:

I am using this in conjunction with dessicants to provide an additional layer of protection to my firearms from oxidation. This unit mildly heats the air in my safe to eliminate any additional moisture that may occur from the changes in temperature in my garage. I have had for 3 weeks and it is working fine. I would recommend, as this is slightly cheaper than others (about $10 less)[...]

This little device keeps humidity out of your gun locker. The power cable comes disassembled so that you can feed it through the security hole(s). Its very easy to put together.

I installed the 12" model in my STACK ON 10 gun security safe.. it did not seem to get very hot..and I only slightly lowered the humidity.( was 59% now its 55%) Should I be able to grab ahold of this without burning my hand..I think mine only gets 100 degs?

Welcome to the club . My Liberty only gets to about 90*. It is a total waste of time . Everything I read says put the longest one that will fit horizontally . My best humidity level was about 56% before I bought a room dehumidifier . Liberty sent me a new one that is room temp at best!! I hope to get a refund and buy a real one .

                  A:

I haven't checked the differences in humidity levels or the change in heat values. Mine keeps the safe around 64-69 degrees (I haven't tracked it routinely enough to know exactly). I don't know what temperature it needs to be, but since I know it is heating the interior, it must be taking the moisture out in the process. I bought mine to work in concert with the two large cans of dessicant I have. I was having to recharge these about every 5 weeks so I decided to get the rod to lengthen the times between recharging. I know mine gets warm, but I don't recall it getting too hot. I quickly touched it one time and didn't notice it was overly hot. I have not grabbed it though. When I need to move, I just kind of handle it by the attached legs. Hope this helps.
My safe is 65 cu. feet.

The answer above to the question about size says the unit is 12-18 inches. Which is it, 12 inches or 18 inches? Also, how many watts does it draw?

The answer is "not long enough ". My 12" is a total waste of time . They sent a new one to me that doesn't work at all . I wouldn't want a free one !
