    These tie downs are written up as ratchet style? They look like cam style!

      These are not ratchet style at all, there are some text issues that will be changed on the web. The straps actually pull through the opening in the clevis and then are held there in tension with spring loaded gate to hold the slack witch you pull through the gate!
