I purchased these boots specifically for hiking and discovered they were designed to cover a variety of applications. Keen has produced a very stable, comfortable and dry boot that I find difficult to take off... and thats not a bad feature. These boots have leather uppers and a sole with superior traction. They are also constructed with a gore-tex membrane to keep your "dogs" dry.

I wear these boots regularly, hiking in moderate terrain with roots, rocks, water, etc... First off, the Keen Dry is worthless. Just walking through knee-high wet plants gets my feet soaked. Second, the tread is just beginning to come apart on the sides. I have only had these since the beginning of March. My last pair keen shoes is still going after 9 years. These are a disappointment

Comments about Keen Mens Targhee II Mid Hiker:

I wear these shoes every single day. They are the most comfortable shoes I own. This is my second pair of the same style. My first pair lasted over five years with constant use. I had foot pains every day and considered surgery until I started wearing Keens. Since then, no pain and no need for the knife.

Comments about Keen Mens Targhee II Mid Hiker:

I had this same shoe before and for some reason went with something else. These boots have plenty of wiggle room without feeling too loose. They are very comfortable right out of the gate. I wear them every day for everything from casual to hiking. The only con I can think of is that they do tend to be a little hot in the summer. But I tie them loose for casual wear and leave them on my back screened in porch to air out some nights and they stay fairly fresh. Great overall shoe looks good with jeans and tan pants. Even looks good with shorts.

Comments about Keen Mens Targhee II Mid Hiker:

I work as a driver for a dealership in Wisconsin so I'm outdoors in sub-zero weather, then I'm inside for a short time, then back outside. Ground is slippery; inside is also slick with oil, water and snow. I needed a boot that kept me from falling on my rear end and was lightweight, warm and dry. The Keen boot sounded like what I needed-- and it was! Good traction and light weight. My feet are dry and remain warm.
As a bonus, I really like the speed-lace "grab" when tying the boots.
As stated before, order one-half size larger for the best fit.
This will not be my last pair.

Comments about Keen Mens Targhee II Mid Hiker:

I had a pair of Merrill's that I loved. However, after less than 2 years of moderate use, the rubber separated from the leather and they are unusable. These keen's are lighter, keep my feet just as warm and seem to have a sturdier build. I have always been a Merrill fan, but now I'm a "Keen guy". These fit snug, not tight, they are just right. They are water proof, warm and seem to have very good traction. I hike many miles in the winter to avoid snakes. I can't say that these Keen's will hold up for 2 years, but I'll enjoy them for as long as I can, and then I'll buy another pair.
