Comments about Jim Buoy Deluxe Series Mooring Buoy With 1/2" Swivel And Eye, 30-lb. Buoyancy:

I'm sure this buoy would work just fine, as it seemed sturdy and well-designed, but it's made of a material that seems like glorified styrofoam, with lots of little porous cracks and bumps on the surface, which means it would collect a lot of gunk and be impossible to clean, since you couldn's scrub it without damaging it. If appearance isn't important to you, it probably would be okay, but I like to be able to clean the buoy from time to time. The online description didn't mention the soft, irregular surface, only the durability of the "high density foam" and since most buoys have a foam interior, I assumed it had a hard surface. Sadly, that wrong impression cost me $10.50 in return postage.
