Q:
Have the JBL MR-18 Sirius Satellite Radio package by JBL installed in a boat. I cannot get the radio to stay on Sirius I or Sirius II without it wanting to switch to Aux. I have the Sirius subscription up and running but no sirius reception because the radio will not hold Sirius I or Sirius II. The radio came with no book. All other aspects of the radio work (am/fm/aux)Asked on 5/27/2010 by Anonymous1 answer

I realize you posted your question over a month ago and maybe you solved this problem by now. In any case, I'm pretty sure this unit functions such that if it does not detect a Sirius signal when you switch to Sirius mode, it will switch by itself to the next available mode or Aux. So your radio is simply not getting a signal. Either you have no antenna, a bad antenna, a bad antenna connection or your antenna is blocked by something so that it's not picking up a clear shot at the satellite in the sky.Answered on 7/8/2010 by MTStewDog from Flathead Lake, Montana
Q:
Hello:
I am in interested in purchasing an XM stero for my 18' center console. I currently do not have a stereo or speakers. I really only care about having XM radio and do not necessarily need CD, AM or FM. My question is does this JBL package have everything I need to experience XM radio listening with the exception of marine speakers and an XM radio membership? Also, I need to know how I can mount the XM Shakespeare antenna (I have a grab rail but not a T-top)and how I can mount the receiver itself? Is it flush mounted or surface mounted? Are there different mounting brackets available?
Thank you,
Tom Whiteley

You will also have to purchase a satellite receiver from XM along with the subscription for this receiver. This am/fm cd receiver is mounted in a dash cutout much like the radio in your car. The only other mounting options for this unit is a waterproof housing that can be gimble mounted either by sitting on top of a flat surfact or handing from a fiberglass box or something similar to a fiberglass box. That product is item number 990472.Answered on 1/12/2010 by Justin from Overton's Technician
